Biography

An American soprano of Cuban descent. She grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and studied the flute for 12 years before enrolling in the vocal program at Louisiana State University. She was a finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and trained in the Metropolitan Opera's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program. 

After completing the program, she performed on the Metropolitan Opera stage in roles such as Nannetta (Falstaff), Sophie (Werther), Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), and Gilda (Rigoletto). Among her other engagements are the roles of Konstanze (The Abduction from the Seraglio) at the Bavarian State Opera and the Paris Opera, Lucia di Lammermoor at the Royal Opera House and the Teatro Real in Madrid, Marguerite de Valois (Les Huguenots) at the Paris Opera, Norina (Don Pasquale) at the Glyndebourne Festival, Ophelia (Hamlet) in Lausanne, Susanna and Marie (La fille du régiment) at the Washington National Opera, Gilda at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Dutch National Opera, the Teatro Real in Madrid, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Violetta (La traviata) at the Opera Philadelphia, and Rosalba (Florencia en el Amazonas by Daniel Catán) at the Los Angeles Opera.
